## Summary

**Expands access to home detention and adds a judicial-review path for elderly and terminally ill federal prisoners.** This bill would expand who can seek supervised-release home detention, change how qualifying time is calculated, and extend the pilot program timeline. - Elderly offenders and terminally ill inmates could ask a court to reduce an imposed prison term and replace the unserved portion with supervised release under home detention after the court considers the factors in 18 U.S.C. 3553(a). The judicial-review option is available once administrative appeals are exhausted or 30 days after the inmate submits a request to the warden. - The formula for how much of a sentence must be served before home detention is changed to one-half of the term minus any credits under 18 U.S.C. 3624(b), replacing a prior two-thirds rule. The bill also adds offenses under District of Columbia law to the lists that affect those calculations. - The scope of home-detention-related provisions in the Elderly Home Detention Pilot Program is extended through 2029, and the bill makes targeted technical corrections to compassionate release provisions.

- More home detention for eligible prisoners: benefit, low. If enacted, this bill would let courts shorten a prison term and replace the unserved portion with supervised release and home detention for eligible elderly or terminally ill prisoners. A court could do this after a defendant files a motion and the court considers the 18 U.S.C. 3553(a) sentencing…
