## Summary

**The bill directs the Interior Department to complete a detailed** **feasibility study** of the proposed Dakota Mainstem Water Supply Project to decide whether a regional municipal, rural, and industrial water system should be built. - Residents in parts of South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota could gain a new municipal and rural water source if the study recommends construction. - The Dakota Mainstem Regional Water System, Inc. must coordinate with the Secretary and, if built, cover at least 25% of construction costs. - Federal support for the study is capped at $10.0 million and no more than 50% of study costs. The Secretary must produce a public feasibility report, consult federal, state, Tribal, regional, and local authorities, and the authority to carry out the study ends five years after enactment. *This would increase federal spending by up to $10.0 million for the feasibility study, with the Federal share limited to 50% and funded by appropriations.*
