## Summary

**Audit-driven limit on new detainee placements.** This bill would require the Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Detention Oversight to audit immigration detention facilities and bar ICE from placing new detainees at a facility until any audit-identified problems are fixed and the audit report is submitted to Congress. - Families and detainees: Would make it less likely that new detainees are placed in facilities with unresolved deficiencies, by blocking new placements until issues are remediated. - ICE and detention operators: Would force ICE and private facility operators to complete audits and fix deficiencies before opening or expanding facilities that begin operating after enactment or that have been audited. - Congressional oversight: Would require the ICE Director to send audit results and the steps taken to fix problems to four congressional committees within 30 days after an audit is completed.
