## Summary

**Creates a limited NEPA categorical exclusion to speed hazardous-fuel reduction projects near communities.** The bill would let federal managers remove insect‑infected trees, dead or dying trees, and other hazardous fuels on certain federal lands to reduce wildfire risk and help recover threatened or endangered species, including sage‑grouse habitat. - Communities and households near federal land: Speedier fuel‑reduction work would aim to lower wildfire risk to homes and protect utilities, water systems, campgrounds, roads, and schools. - Federal land managers and crews: Agencies would use a streamlined review for eligible projects and could treat up to 10,000 acres of at-risk federal land per project. - Species and conservation: The measure targets projects that provide conservation benefits to listed species, species under consideration for listing, state-listed species, and special concern species, including sage‑grouse habitat. - Protected lands: The exclusion would not apply to lands in the National Wilderness Preservation System, areas where vegetation removal is barred by law, or lands within National Monuments.
