## Summary

**Strengthen hiring and training oversight for ICE and CBP.** This bill would require audits of hiring records, cross-checks with state misconduct files, certification of academy training, and a GAO report to inform congressional oversight. - New ICE and CBP hires would be audited to confirm background checks and that hiring met Office of Personnel Management standards. - Hires since January 20, 2025 would be cross-checked against state police and law enforcement employment records to determine whether those records were considered during evaluation. - The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers would have 180 days to certify that every ICE and CBP agent completed the required academies and to report the length of training. - The Comptroller General must deliver a report within 1 year summarizing the audit findings, the Under Secretary’s determination on use of misconduct files, and training pass and fail rates for ICE and CBP.
