## Summary

**This bill would claw back federal payments to former Presidents** when those payments were made because of their presidential status. It defines which settlements, administrative awards, or court judgments count and directs the Attorney General to sue to recover them. - Former Presidents: Treasury-funded settlements, administrative awards, or judgments tied to their time in office could be recovered if they relate to claims filed or settled on or after January 20, 2025. - Department of Justice: The Attorney General would bring civil actions in the U.S. Court of Federal Claims or the D.C. Circuit to seek recovery. Any recovered money would be used by the Public Integrity Section of the Criminal Division. - Congress and watchdogs: The Comptroller General must report to Congress within 180 days after any covered payment greater than $1 million, describing the factors courts used to decide whether the payment depended on presidential status.
