## Summary

**Permanent preservation of Plum Island for ecological conservation, cultural heritage, and public access.** This bill would designate Plum Island and all associated federal properties, including the Orient Point terminal and facilities, as permanently preserved for those three purposes and require a formal visioning process to inform a future ecological management plan. - Local residents and visitors would see maintained access to Plum Island and the Orient Point terminal and facilities. - Conservationists and wildlife would benefit from a new priority on ecological conservation and a visioning process that may form the basis for a dedicated management plan. - Tribal governments, State agencies, and other stakeholders would be formally consulted during visioning and named in recurring reports that summarize topics, outcomes, timelines, and recommendations. - The General Services Administration would have to start visioning within 180 days and submit a report within 2 years, then report annually until one year after the visioning sessions finish.
