## Summary

This bill would create a public, federally led **Violent Criminal Offender Database** that aggregates qualifying State and Federal convictions. It would standardize searchable fields, require at least quarterly updates, and provide free public access. - People with qualifying convictions would appear in a public, searchable record showing name, location, conviction type, sentence details, plea-or-trial status, and related case data. Entries are removed if convictions are expunged, vacated, set aside, or fully pardoned. - States that receive Byrne Justice Assistance Grant (Byrne JAG) funds would need to submit qualifying conviction data within 180 days and on an ongoing basis or face withholding of those Byrne JAG funds and possible redirection of funds to local governments. - The Attorney General would have to report to Congress within 180 days with recommendations to improve interstate and federal-state criminal record sharing to support nationwide information sharing and public safety.
