## Summary

**Shield federal workers' credit reports during government shutdowns.** This bill would prevent consumer reporting agencies from listing adverse debt items for covered federal employees during a defined shutdown period when the worker asks for removal. It also requires the Office of Management and Budget to tell relevant credit agencies when a lapse in appropriations starts and ends. - Federal employees: If a covered employee directly requests it, adverse debt items must be deleted from their consumer report at no charge and blocked from disclosure during the covered period. The covered period begins after a more-than-24-hour lapse in appropriations and ends 30 days after appropriations resume. - Consumer reporting agencies described in section 603(p): Must delete and prohibit disclosure of adverse information about covered individuals during the covered period when requested. - Office of Management and Budget: The Director must notify each covered consumer reporting agency of the start and end of any lapse in appropriations that affects covered individuals.
