## Summary

**This bill would create a federal program to prevent and eradicate the golden mussel.** It would fund a multi-part demonstration program that combines research, monitoring, technical guidance, competitive grants, and an early warning system focused on the Sacramento–San Joaquin Delta and other U.S. waters the Task Force identifies as at risk. - Fishing communities and water users would get targeted research and control plans meant to protect fisheries and water quality, plus tracking and early-warning information to spot likely infestations. - State and local governments, port authorities, and water managers could receive technical assistance and competitive grants to set up watercraft inspection stations, inspect hulls, and deploy control measures. The Task Force would be required to develop control guidelines within 1 year. - Universities, nonprofits, and industry partners could compete for grants to develop removal technologies, study the mussel's biology and environmental tolerances, and transfer new technologies for faster deployment. *Would authorize $15.0 million per year for fiscal years 2026–2030 to carry out the program, increasing federal spending by that amount if appropriations are provided.*
