## Summary

**Reauthorize and expand the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (Earth MRI).** This bill would extend Earth MRI through 2027–2031 and let the program use modern sensing and data-driven methods to better map critical minerals, geothermal resources, natural hydrogen, and other subsurface systems. - Researchers and analysts would gain access to new types of data including digital geochemistry, advanced geochemical characterization, and real-time data acquisition to improve subsurface mapping. - Energy and mineral developers would get improved resource characterization for critical minerals, geothermal resources, and natural hydrogen that can inform exploration and planning. - Federal mapping and data efforts would be integrated with the 3D Hydrography Program and see an extended authorization window to 2027–2031 to continue coordinated data collection and analysis.
