## Summary

**Requires federal judges and their close family to place many private investments into qualified blind trusts.** It sets what counts as a covered financial interest, when assets must be transferred, and what public attestations are required. - Judges, justices, magistrate judges, bankruptcy judges and their spouses and dependent children must place covered financial interests into a qualified blind trust within 90 days after the law takes effect or within 90 days after swearing in. Covered interests include securities, commodities, futures, and similar synthetic positions. Widely held diversified funds, U.S. Treasury securities, and spouse or dependent compensation are excluded. - Former judges are barred from dissolving or exercising control over a qualified blind trust for 180 days after leaving office. - Each official must file an attestation within 15 days after establishing a trust or declaring no covered interests. The Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts must post that attestation on a searchable public database.
