## Summary

**Improving runway and taxiway safety by modernizing training and technology for movement-area drivers.** This bill would create a federal Task Force to develop nationwide recommendations for uniform, recurrent, and technology-based training for people who operate vehicles in movement areas at part 139 airports. - Airport drivers and ground workers would see recommendations for uniform movement-area driver safety training, stronger recurrent training, and expanded training for paved surfaces adjacent to runways and taxiways. - Airport sponsors and contractors would get guidance on attestation that personnel are authorized to operate movement-area vehicles and on barriers to adopting new training technologies such as cost and workforce availability. - FAA, safety agencies, and technology providers would be engaged to evaluate current and emerging tools like surface-detection and situational-awareness systems and to recommend technology and procedural changes to cut vehicle-involved surface events. The Task Force must submit a final report with its recommendations to the Administrator and to congressional transportation committees within 1 year.
