## Summary

**Would create an expert consensus on the health effects of air traffic noise and pollution by directing the FAA to arrange for the National Academies' Health and Medicine Division to study and report on current science.** - Communities near airports and families would receive a formal, science-based summary of health risks tied to air traffic noise and pollution. It would compile current scientific knowledge. - The National Academies would have 30 days to convene a committee of health and environmental experts to examine those impacts and produce the report. - The finished report would be sent to the FAA Administrator, the Secretary of Health and Human Services, the Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, the House Committees on Transportation and Infrastructure and on Oversight and Government Reform, and the Senate Committees on Commerce, Science, and Transportation and on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.
