## Summary

**Denies federal funds to ‘sanctuary’ jurisdictions that restrict cooperation on immigration detainers.** It would bar those jurisdictions from getting federal money meant to benefit people in the U.S. without lawful status and set up annual DHS reporting on noncompliance. - Local governments labeled as sanctuary jurisdictions would become ineligible for federal funds intended to benefit undocumented immigrants, including money for food, shelter, healthcare, legal services, and transportation. - Residents without lawful status and the local providers who serve them could see reduced federal-supported services in affected areas, which may shrink access to basic care and legal help. - The Department of Homeland Security would be required to submit a report to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees within one year and then annually naming states and political subdivisions that failed to comply with DHS detainer-related requests. - A narrow exception says a state or locality is not a sanctuary jurisdiction solely because officials will not share information or honor a detainer for someone who comes forward as a victim or witness of a crime.
