**Expands survivor compensation for veterans who die from ALS by removing the time-in-disease condition.** This bill would amend Title 38 U.S. Code section 1311(a)(2) so a veteran the Secretary determines died from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is treated as meeting the higher-rate rule for dependency and indemnity compensation (DIC) regardless of how long the veteran had ALS. The change would apply retroactively to veterans who died from ALS on or after October 1, 2022.
