## Summary

**Creates a Space National Guard as the reserve component of the U.S. Space Force.** It would establish a federally recognized, space-focused National Guard built from specified Air National Guard units and require use of existing facilities. - Guard members and units: The bill would transfer listed space operations staff and enumerated Air National Guard units into the Space National Guard and make all members part of the Space Force reserve. It would limit personnel assignments to those units listed. - States and command: Seven States — Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, New York, and Ohio — are the only ones named to host Space National Guard units and each unit would remain organized under that State's Assistant Adjutant General for the Air Force. - Leadership and law: It would create a Director of the Space National Guard at the rank of brigadier general who reports to the Director of the Air National Guard and would add new definitions and sections to Title 10 and Title 32 to integrate the component. - Facilities and oversight: The Space National Guard would use facilities and installations constructed before enactment and generally could not build or modify sites to accommodate it. The bill would require implementation within one year and joint briefings to congressional defense committees within 90 days and annually for 5 years on missions, personnel, and budget needs.
