## Summary

**Reduce Senators' pay during government shutdowns.** This resolution would require the Secretary of the Senate to withhold from each Senator an amount equal to one day's salary for each 24-hour period a lapse in appropriations affects a pay period. The pay reduction would apply only to shutdown days occurring after the November 2026 general election. For shutdown days before that date the withheld amounts would be deposited into an escrow account and then released on the effective date to address 27th Amendment timing concerns.
