Staff Salary Schedule Improvement Act
Sponsored By: Representative Mullin
Introduced
Summary
Allows the House to pay staff twice per month or on another schedule. It would let the Chief Administrative Officer set a bi-monthly or alternative pay cadence only when the House upgrades its payroll system and the Committee on House Administration directs and issues a regulation. The change creates a conditional path for more flexible pay timing for House employees and vests scheduling authority in the Committee on House Administration.

Change to House staff pay schedule
This bill would let the House change how often House staff are paid. The change would only be allowed when the House next upgrades its payroll system. It would require direction from the Committee on House Administration and the Committee would set the exact schedule by regulation. The Chief Administrative Officer would then be able to pay salaries twice per month or on another schedule the Committee approves. If you are paid by the House, this would change only the timing of pay, not the amount. That would affect monthly budgeting or cash flow for some staff.
