- Colleges must tell students about lawyer options: benefit, low. Arkansas colleges must tell students facing covered investigations or disciplinary cases that they may seek a lawyer. This notice requirement applies to cases under the Arkansas Student Due Process and Protection Act. Colleges do not have to provide or pay for a lawyer.
- Students face a seven-day appeal deadline: cost, low. Arkansas students and student organizations now have 7 days to file appeals under the Student Due Process and Protection Act. The deadline was 25 days. The clock starts when the student or organization receives final notice of the college’s decision.
