On conviction, a court can fine up to the amount set in section 101 of the Criminal Fine Proportionality Amendment Act of 2012, jail for up to 90 days, or both.
- Stronger limits on loudspeakers at homes: benefit, low. The law defines “sound amplifying device” and excludes car stereos heard only inside the car. People cannot use loudspeakers to target a home between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. in Residential, Residential Flat, or Residential Apartment Zones. You cannot leave an unattended loudspeaker that plays sound…
- 2024 temporary tranquility rules repealed: mixed, low. The law repeals the Residential Tranquility Temporary Amendment Act of 2024 (D.C. Law 25-323; effective April 18, 2025). Those temporary rules no longer apply, and the updated Residential Tranquility Act now governs.
