- Higher regional taxes on some purchases: cost, medium. The Authority Board can raise certain regional sales, service, and use taxes by ordinance, but the law does not raise them on its own. In Cook County, maximum rates include 1.5% on specified food and property taxed at the 1% state rate, 1.25% on other covered sales or services, and 1.25% for qualif…
- Taxes apply to more personal-property leases: cost, low. Beginning January 1, 2025, certain local taxes apply to qualifying leases of personal property. It must also consider access to jobs, including off-peak and weekend service. Beginning in December 2027, the Authority plans regional service for periods of…
- Two Chicago stations get later deadlines: mixed, low. The Authority must build or remodel a Blue Line station at or near Central Station and the Lavergne Avenue western entrance. It must open by January 1, 2031, replacing the earlier Leclaire Avenue location and January 1, 2029 deadline. The Regional Transportation Authority must also build or remodel…
- Parking rules cover more public spaces: mixed, low. The law includes rules about maximum or minimum numbers of off-street parking spaces in its definitions of parking requirements.
