## Bill overview: provisions PRIA read

- Apprentice hunting license drops renewal ban: benefit, low. The law no longer labels the Apprentice Hunter License as non-renewable, but it does not establish renewal rights or terms. Residents and nonresidents apply on a department form and pay $7. The license still expires on March 31 following issuance.
- Snowmobile summonses become optional for officers: benefit, low. After an inspection finds a snowmobile law violation, the officer or agent can choose whether to issue a summons. The law no longer requires a summons in every case. Operators are not guaranteed a warning or exemption from enforcement.
- New suspension rules for wildlife offenders: cost, low. For listed wildlife and related offenses, Illinois can revoke or refuse licenses and permits, or suspend regulated activities. This authority covers guilty pleas, findings of guilt, and court supervision. Federal wildlife violations qualify when at least part occurred in Illinois. Department rules…
- Tighter proof rules for hunting licenses: cost, low. Hunting-license applicants born on or after January 1, 1980 face a tighter proof requirement. They need an Illinois hunting license from a prior year or a certificate of competency. A prior-year license from another state no longer satisfies this requirement.
- Youth conservation records miss automatic clearing: cost, low. The law excludes juvenile conservation-offense records from the automatic record-clearing rules in subsections 5-915(0.1) and (0.2). Those rules do not erase these records. This exclusion does not itself bar separate petition-based relief.
