## Bill overview: provisions PRIA read

- Draft bills required for special-session polls: benefit, low. A poll request must state the conditions and purposes and include a draft bill. A legislator can ask Legislative Services Division staff to write the draft. Ballots must include that draft and set a return date no later than 30 days after mailing.
- Faster emergency polls with email delivery: benefit, low. For polls on an active state emergency or disaster, the Secretary of State sends ballots within 2 calendar days. The office can use email or any reliable method and does not need certified mail. Lawmakers must return ballots within no more than 7 calendar days after they are sent.
- More lawmakers needed to call special session: cost, low. The law raises the trigger to start a special‑session poll from 10 to 30 legislators. A written request to the Secretary of State now needs 30 member signatures.
