## Bill overview: provisions PRIA read

- New crime for disability plate fraud: benefit, low. It is a misdemeanor to give false information to get disability license plates or a disability parking placard, or to help someone not eligible get them. The penalty is at least a $300 fine, up to 10 hours of community service, or both.
- Officers can enforce in public parking: benefit, low. State or local officers can enter public parking spaces, lots, facilities, and public rights‑of‑way to enforce disability parking rules. This helps find and stop misuse.
- Car owners liable for disability tickets: cost, low. If your car gets a disability parking ticket and you were not with it, you are responsible as the registered owner. You are excused only if you show the car was used without your consent.
- Higher tickets for disability parking misuse: mixed, medium. Illegal parking in a disability space now costs more. A first ticket is $150 to $250. A second or later ticket is $250 to $500. You avoid the fine if, within 3 business days, you show a disability permit that was already issued to you and was valid at the time of the ticket.
