## Bill overview: provisions PRIA read

- Permit fees for truck platoons: cost, low. To run a truck platoon in Montana, a company must get a special permit. A term permit costs $200. A per-trip permit costs $20. Each truck in the platoon also pays the gross vehicle weight fee set by law. DOT can add limits on routes and operations.
- State rules for truck platoons: mixed, low. Montana DOT reviews a safety study and talks with law enforcement, tribes, truckers, and other stakeholders. If it finds platooning safe, DOT adopts rules and standards. Platooning is allowed only after these rules are in place.
