## Bill overview: provisions PRIA read

- Winners in arbitration or short trials get $15K fees: benefit, high. Beginning January 1, 2026, if you win in arbitration or a court-approved short trial, the decision-maker can award your attorney fees up to $15,000. The award is the smaller of what you ask for and $15,000. Costs and interest can also be awarded as allowed by statute or court rules.
- More cases under $100K go to arbitration: benefit, medium. Beginning January 1, 2026, district-court civil cases from Nevada with $100,000 or less per plaintiff go to nonbinding arbitration, unless the parties use another approved process. Some cases are not forced into arbitration, including insurer bad-faith cases seeking punitive damages, sexual assault…
- Arbitration fees and arbitrator pay change: mixed, medium. Beginning January 1, 2026, Nevada removes fixed pay caps for arbitrators. The Nevada Supreme Court sets payment rules and maximums, and a judge can waive limits for good cause. In districts with 100,000+ people, courts can charge arbitration fees when each plaintiff seeks more than $100,000.
- New short trial option with limits: mixed, low. Beginning January 1, 2026, Nevada adds a short trial option if all parties agree and the Supreme Court authorizes it. Short trials limit discovery, set strict time limits, and can use a jury of up to eight people.
