## Bill overview: provisions PRIA read

- Drivers get longer camera citation deadlines: benefit, low. For covered work-zone camera citations, you have 120 days after issuance to respond instead of 90 days. Courts must send a reminder at least 30 days before that deadline. If you request a hearing, any required bond is capped at $100. These rules run from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2029.
- Workers protected from camera citation discipline: benefit, low. Employers cannot consider a work-zone camera pilot citation when applying progressive discipline, such as escalating warnings or penalties. This protection does not prevent employers from considering other information or conduct.
- Drivers gain camera data privacy protections: benefit, low. Only the traffic enforcement agency that issued the citation may store or share the system's images and data. Other groups cannot sell, transfer, or send those materials unless a court orders it.
- Speed cameras target active work zones: benefit, low. From July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2029, Nevada transportation agencies and local governments may use work-zone speed cameras. Enforcement applies only during highway construction, maintenance, or repair when workers are present. Vehicles must travel at least 10 miles per hour over the posted limi…
- Camera contracts face bidding and payment limits: benefit, low. Agencies must seek competitive bids for camera installation and use contracts, which must require citation tracking and reporting by work zone. Vendors cannot receive payment based on how many citations are issued. Agencies must account for citation money separately and first use it for system inst…
- Camera fines capped without driving points: mixed, low. Work-zone camera citations carry a civil penalty of up to $200. They are non-moving civil infractions and do not add points to your driving record. You cannot receive an automated citation for the same violation if an officer witnessed it there and already cited you.
- Vehicle owners face reviewed camera citations: mixed, low. An officer with authority over the location must check camera evidence for accuracy before a citation is issued. If the officer finds a violation, the agency or its designee sends the citation by first-class mail to the owner's DMV address. It must include the violation date and time, an image or v…
