## Bill overview: provisions PRIA read

- More safety information for kratom buyers: benefit, low. Kratom products manufactured, distributed, sold, or offered for retail sale in New York must carry detailed labels. Kratom includes any part of the Mitragyna speciosa plant. Labels must list all ingredients and the manufacturer's or distributor's business name and address. They must state that sale…
- Penalties for breaking kratom label rules: cost, low. Any person or business that violates the kratom labeling rules faces a civil penalty. The maximum is $500 for a first violation and $1,000 for a second or later violation. These penalties apply to violators, not just manufacturers.
- Kratom loses ban on all-natural claims: cost, low. The law removes the specific ban on advertising or packaging that calls or implies a kratom product is “all natural.” It defines “all natural” as having no artificial ingredients or added colors and being minimally processed.
