## Bill overview: provisions PRIA read

- Adults can drive during supervised demonstrations: benefit, low. People age 18 or older may drive a noncommercial vehicle without a license during an official demonstration of driving ability. A Department of Safety employee must accompany them. This exemption applies only during that supervised demonstration, not to driving generally.
- Class D drivers can operate autocycles: benefit, low. Tennessee Class D licenses expressly cover autocycles and other vehicles outside Classes A, B, C, and M. They do not cover commercial motor vehicles. For any vehicle requiring a special endorsement, the correct endorsement must appear on the license.

They can never keep it longer than three calendar days. The law bans selling or sharing that data, except with police performing their duties, legally authorized government entities, or under a court subpo…
- Digital license users get tracking protections: benefit, low. Digital license providers cannot collect or keep biometric identifiers for the system, including fingerprints, voiceprints, or eye scans. The ban also covers measurements of hand or face shape. Providers may take a photo solely to compare with the license photo on file and confirm identity. The Dep…
- Digital licenses stop after license suspension: cost, low. The Department of Safety must disable, suspend, or end digital license participation when a physical license is canceled, revoked, or suspended. It must also act when a participant reports the device lost or stolen. Unless the physical license is restored, the digital license must be disabled when…
- Free digital licenses, but not for voting: mixed, low. Effective upon becoming law, Tennessee allows participants to show a valid digital license instead of a physical license. This includes identification requests from police and alcohol sellers, and covers Tennessee non-driver photo identification licenses. The Department of Safety and its contractor…
