Possible Coastwise Approval for Yes Dear

The Maritime Administration received a request to allow the foreign-built vessel Yes Dear (a 28' motor) to operate with a coastwise endorsement carrying no more than 12 paying passengers for day charters based out of Fajardo, on the east coast of Puerto Rico. MARAD is asking for public comments on any effect this could have on U.S. vessel builders or U.S. businesses that use U.S.-flag vessels; comments are due February 5, 2025. If MARAD finds the vessel's employment would have an unduly adverse effect on a U.S. vessel builder or a business that uses U.S.-flag vessels, MARAD will not approve the endorsement.
