Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.
Class E Airspace Geometry Changed
The FAA proposes to change the shape and size of the Class E airspace at Cortez Municipal Airport, CO. Key changes include a Class E surface-area radius of 4.8 miles, extensions to 5.6 miles northeast and 7.2 miles southwest, reducing the 700-foot-above-surface central radius to 6.1 miles (from 7 miles), and other specified northeast, southwest, and north-northwest extensions (including a 1.8-mile north-northwest extension).
New 8x8-Mile Surface Extension, No Radio Rule
The FAA proposes to establish an approximately 8 x 8 mile extension to the Class E surface area northeast of the airport to contain arriving IFR aircraft below 1,000 feet. The proposal explicitly states this extension would contain those operations "without imposing a 2-way radio communication requirement."
FAA Says Minimal Economic Impact on Small Entities
The FAA certified that this proposed airspace amendment "will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities" and described the anticipated impact as minimal. The FAA determined the rule is routine technical airspace regulation and not a significant regulatory action.
