DAHER Airplane Owners Must Clean and Check Flap Parts Now
Published Date: 2/4/2025
Rule
Summary
If you own a DAHER TBM 700 airplane, listen up! The FAA found some parts inside the flap system wearing out, which could cause trouble. You’ll need to clean, check, and maybe replace these parts soon to keep flying safe—don’t worry, some replacements even stop future checks. This fix helps keep your plane in top shape without breaking the bank.
Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.
Mandatory Flap Actuator Inspection
If you own a DAHER Model TBM 700 airplane, the FAA requires you to clean and lubricate the internal flap actuator rods and measure the play between the drive nuts and the rods. This inspection is required by the new airworthiness directive after reports of wear of the inner flap actuator drive nut.
Replace Worn Drive Nuts If Play Found
If the measurement shows any play between the drive nuts and the internal actuator rods on a TBM 700, you must replace the drive nuts. Replacing worn drive nuts will require purchasing parts and paying for installation under the AD.
Replacement With Design Nuts Ends Further Checks
The AD allows replacing the drive nuts with certain other design drive nuts; doing so serves as terminating action for the AD's inspection and measurement requirements. Replacing with the approved design nuts stops the need for the recurring inspections required by this AD.
