U.S. Shipyards Asked to Report Capacity
The Maritime Administration (MARAD) is asking U.S. shipyards that can build ships able to operate in ice conditions to provide information about their capacity, capability, and readiness. MARAD says it will use this information to determine what factors are needed to further develop polar icebreaker design, production, and maintenance in the United States through trilateral collaboration while supporting the shipbuilding industrial base.
