Draft SEIS Released for Brownsville LNG

If you live near Brownsville, Texas, FERC released a draft supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS) for the Texas LNG Project (docket CP16-116) that responds to an August 6, 2024 court opinion about environmental justice and air-quality analysis. You can view the draft SEIS on FERC's website and must send any written comments by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on May 19, 2025 to ensure they are considered in the final SEIS.

Only Intervenors Can Seek Review

If you want the legal right to seek rehearing or judicial review of FERC's decision about the Texas LNG Project, you must first become an intervenor by filing a motion under Rule 214 (18 CFR 385.214). Affected landowners can obtain intervenor status by showing a clear and direct interest in the proceeding; simply filing environmental comments does not grant intervenor status.

Draft SEIS Available Only Electronically

The draft supplemental EIS is available only in electronic format on FERC's website and via the eLibrary link; FERC provides phone and TTY support and accepts comments by eComment, eFiling (eRegistration required), or by mail. Comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on May 19, 2025.
