New energy rules for HUD/USDA homes
On April 26, 2024, HUD and USDA adopted energy-efficiency standards for new construction of HUD- and USDA-financed housing. The Final Determination sets compliance dates for the covered HUD and USDA programs for when new homes must meet those standards.
USDA compliance dates delayed six months
This notice delays the compliance dates by six months for covered projects in USDA programs Section 502 (Guaranteed Loans, Direct Loans) and Section 523 (Self Help Loans). Builders and projects using those USDA programs have an additional six months beyond the published compliance dates to meet the new standards.
