55 Temporary Offshore Safety Zones
The Coast Guard is setting up 55 temporary safety zones in Federal waters within Renewable Energy Lease Area OCS-A 0512, about 12 nautical miles south of Long Island, NY (offshore New York and New Jersey). If you boat near that area, you must watch for and avoid these zones when they are enforced to stay safe and comply with the rules.
Access Limited to Authorized Vessels
When the temporary safety zones are being enforced, only attending vessels and vessels with authorization are allowed to enter or stay inside the zones. If you operate a commercial or recreational vessel, you must have authorization to enter during enforcement or you will be required to stay out.
