Manufacturers relieved of spa energy rules
The Department of Energy is proposing to withdraw its prior determination that portable electric spas (PESs) are covered products under Part A of Title III of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act (EPCA). If finalized, manufacturers of portable electric spas would no longer have to meet the EPCA energy-conservation standards that applied because of that determination.
Buyers no longer covered by spa energy rules
DOE proposes to withdraw the coverage of portable electric spas under EPCA, which means buyers of portable electric spas won’t have to meet the energy-conservation standards tied to that covered-product determination. This proposal could change the regulatory requirements that applied to purchasers and owners of these spas.
