Steel & Aluminum Tariffs Applied

On February 10, 2025, Presidential Proclamations imposed specified ad valorem duties on imports of aluminum and steel articles and certain derivative aluminum and steel articles. If you import or sell these metal products, some items now must pay extra import tariffs.

BIS Creates Inclusion Process

The Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), in an interim final rule, establishes the formal process for including additional derivative steel and aluminum articles within the scope of the Section 232 ad valorem duties. This new process is the mechanism the government will use to add items to the tariff list.

2018 Exclusions Process Ended

This rule removes the aluminum and steel exclusions process authorized by clause 3 of Presidential Proclamations 9704 and 9705 dated March 18, 2018. If you relied on that 2018 exclusions process to seek relief from tariffs, that exclusion route is no longer available.
