Data to Boost Poultry Health Preparedness
The questionnaire data will establish baseline health, management, and biosecurity information for small broiler, layer, and turkey operations and will be used to aid producer preparedness and response for highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI). The data will also be used to establish production measures, detect regional disease trends, evaluate biosecurity practices, design surveillance systems, and provide parameters for disease spread models.
Survey Participation Burden on Small Poultry
If you run a small broiler, table egg layer, or meat turkey operation, USDA’s NAHMS will collect data from small poultry businesses in Fall 2025 using a questionnaire. The study lists 5,525 business respondents, expects respondents to report four times, and estimates total burden of 2,872 hours.
