Small Grains Survey Reinstated 2025

If you operate a farm or agricultural business, the USDA will reinstate the Small Grains County Estimates Survey beginning with the 2025 production year to be conducted in summer–fall 2025. The Field Crops Production collection (OMB No. 0535-0002) lists 426,675 respondents and a total burden of 139,806 hours, and NASS says this reinstatement increases burden hours; the questionnaire will remain unchanged.

CEAP Survey Lowers Race/Ethnicity Burden

If you operate a farm or ranch selected for the Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP) survey, NASS will use the seven minimum category race/ethnicity question to keep the questionnaire at 44 pages and reduce burden compared to using the standard race/ethnicity version. The CEAP collection (OMB No. 0535-0245) lists 20,000 respondents and a total burden of 17,173 hours, and NASS says this change would reduce public burden and help preserve data quality and disclosure protections.
