Longer Lowell Yard‑Waste Burning Season

If you live within the city limits of Lowell, Oregon, residents will be allowed to burn woody yard trimmings on approved burn days from October 1 through June 15. This change is part of a revised outdoor burning rule submitted to the EPA on July 1, 2024, and would expand the residential burning season in that area.

EPA Finds Burning Expansion Meets Air Standards

The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality included a technical demonstration that expanding the Lowell residential outdoor burning season will not interfere with attainment and maintenance of the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). The EPA is proposing to approve the revised rule into Oregon's State Implementation Plan because it meets Clean Air Act requirements.
