Imported Tobacco Inspections Removed
The rule removes old requirements to inspect and pesticide-test imported tobacco that were established under the Tobacco Adjustment Act of 1983. The Fair and Equitable Tobacco Reform Act of 2004 had eliminated mandatory inspection and pesticide testing, and this rule rescinds the now-obsolete regulatory provisions so importers and sellers no longer must follow those inspection and testing rules. The changes take effect right away.
