Commerce Slaps Subsidies Fees on Malaysia's Giant Wind Towers

Published Date: 6/16/2025

Notice

Summary

The U.S. says CS Wind Malaysia got unfair financial help while making big wind towers in 2022. Because of this, certain extra taxes (called countervailing duties) will apply to their products when they come to the U.S. This affects CS Wind and anyone buying their wind towers, starting now to keep things fair and square.

Countervailing Duties on CS Wind Towers

The Department of Commerce found that CS Wind Malaysia received countervailable subsidies during the period of review January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022. As a result, countervailing duties (extra import taxes) will apply to CS Wind's utility-scale wind towers from Malaysia when those products enter the United States. This raises costs for companies that import or buy those towers.
