Public Housing Converted to Section 8
The Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) continues converting public housing and other HUD-assisted properties to long-term, project-based Section 8 rental assistance. This affects housing providers and renters because their properties and leases may move into long-term Section 8 assistance under the Revised RAD Notice and its supplement (RAD Supplemental Notice 4C, H-2025-01/PIH-2025-03 (HA)).
Waivers Published With 10-Day Notice
HUD will publish waivers and alternative requirements for the RAD supplement at least 10 days before they take effect. The notice also says the demonstration, as modified, may proceed immediately even though waivers are published at least 10 days before becoming effective.
