Survey Data Used to Shape Local Food Policy

USDA will use the Local Food Marketing Practices Survey results to inform policymaking and program implementation across agencies (including FSA, RMA, RD, AMS, and FNS) and to help state agencies and researchers better understand and support local food markets.

Farmers Asked to Complete Annual Survey

If you are a farmer or rancher, USDA will ask you to respond to the reinstated Local Food Marketing Practices Survey annually. The notice says farms in all 50 states will be asked, with 65,000 respondents expected and a total respondent burden of 73,841 hours; comments on the collection are requested by July 16, 2025.
