If you get SNAP (food assistance) and win substantial lottery or gambling winnings, you are required to report those substantial winnings. The rule uses the term “substantial winnings” as the trigger for this reporting requirement for individuals and households.
States must work with gaming entities
States are required to establish cooperative agreements with gaming entities in their States to identify SNAP participants with substantial lottery or gambling winnings. States must make SNAP participants with substantial winnings ineligible.
