Summary
The DHA is ending the Home Health Value-Based Purchasing (HHVBP) demonstration early, just like CMS did back in 2021. This affects home health agencies in the nine original states and means no detailed report will be made because the demo didn’t run long enough. If you’re part of these agencies, get ready for changes in how your services are evaluated and paid.

DHA ends HHVBP demo in nine states
The Defense Health Agency (DHA) has terminated the Home Health Value-Based Purchasing (HHVBP) demonstration that applied in the nine original model states. This termination follows the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services action noted on November 9, 2021 and applies to home health agencies in those nine states.
No demonstration report due to limited data
DHA states the HHVBP demonstration ran for only a limited time and there was insufficient data to draft a detailed report of findings. Stakeholders will not receive a DHA report summarizing results from the demonstration.
