Options Regulatory Fee Cut
Starting August 1, 2025, Nasdaq GEMX will lower its Options Regulatory Fee (ORF) from $0.0012 to $0.0009 per contract side. If you trade options through GEMX or your trades are cleared by GEMX members, the per-contract fee charged on customer option transactions will be reduced on that date.
Who Gets Charged the ORF
The ORF applies to each Customer option transaction that is either (1) executed by a GEMX Member on GEMX, or (2) cleared by a GEMX Member at OCC in the Customer range, even if the trade executed on another exchange. If the OCC clearing member is a GEMX Member, ORF is assessed on all ultimately cleared Customer contracts (after CMTA adjustments); if the OCC clearing member is not a GEMX Member, ORF is collected only on cleared Customer contracts that were executed at GEMX, subject to CMTA instructions.
