US Hits Turkish Oil Pipes with Duties Over Unfair Subsidies

Published Date: 7/11/2025

Notice

Summary

The U.S. checked if some Turkish companies making oil pipes got unfair government help in 2022 and confirmed they did. Because of this, certain fees (called countervailing duties) will apply to their products when sold in the U.S. This means importers need to watch for updated costs starting now to keep things fair and square.

Countervailing Duties on Turkish OCTG

The Department of Commerce determined that certain exporters and producers of oil country tubular goods (OCTG) from the Republic of Türkiye received countervailable subsidies during January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022. As a result, countervailing duties will apply to those OCTG imports when sold in the United States, which importers must account for in their costs.
